watchOS 4 arrives with a surprising change to the Music app Sep 19th 2017, 18:34, by Chris Smith Apple has released watchOS 4 for the Apple Watch. However, alongside a host of new features, Cupertino has also slightly scaled back functionality when it comes to music. Within the new Music app, Apple Watch owners will no longer be able to browse their iPhone's entire music library, Apple Insider reports. All they'll see is the music stored on the Apple Watch itself through choice or through synced curated playlists. Related: Apple Watch 3 The inability to access the iPhone's music library won't affect owners of the new Series 3 watch with LTE, it may be irksome to those without LTE as well as Series 1 and Series 2 owners. Thankfully, users will still be able to control iPhone music from the Apple Watch thanks to the Now Playing screen. They'll also be able to adjust volume using the Digital Crown. watchOS 4 also gives Apple Watch owners the chance to sync Apple Music songs in their "heavy rotation." All about Activity In better news, the new OS offers new Activity Tracking tools and greater heart rate visualisation. It can switch between multiple activity types in a single workout (great for crossfitters and triathletes) and offers quick start workouts and pairing gym equipment. Apple has also added greatly enhanced swim tracking. There are new watch faces to enjoy (yes, those tremendous Toy Store ones) and an improved Siri assistant that places contemporaneous information directly on the watch face. The new peer-to-peer Apple Pay Cash service is also on board. watchOS 4 can be downloaded using an iPhone running iOS 11. If your Apple Watch is more than 50% charged, go to the Watch app, hit My Watch and then see General. There you'll see the opportunity to update the software.
