It could cost you hundreds to get fixed Sep 19th 2017, 13:14, by Sean Keach Apple appears to have jacked up the price of iPhone screen repairs, meaning you'll need to pay more to fix a display on select models. We all know that Apple smartphones don't come cheap – as the new £999 iPhone X proves – so it's a real pain when you break one. Fortunately, Apple will gladly fix your smashed iPhone displays out of warranty, if you're willing to pay a fee. The bad news is that Apple appears to have increased the amount of money you have to pay to get your phone screen fixed out of warranty. The quietly-enacted price hike was first spotted by Reddit users, who noticed that the fee Apple charges to repair a broken iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 screen has risen from $129 to $149. And if you own an iPhone 6S Plus or iPhone 7 Plus with a broken display that you want repaired, you'll need to fork out $169 – where previously you would've paid just $149. That's the same price for the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, too. Of course, it still costs just $29 if you're getting a phone repaired under Apple's extended warranty. To get AppleCare+, however, you'll now need to pay even more. Apple's new pricing for two years of AppleCare+ costs $129 for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, and iPhone 8, while bigger models like the iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 8 Plus will cost you $149 for a two-year subscription. But wait, because it gets worse. Unsurprisingly, if you want to cover the new – and seriously ritzy – iPhone X for two years with AppleCare+, you'll need to cough up an eye-watering $199. Ouch. We're still not privy to out-of-warranty pricing for screen repairs on the iPhone X, but we reckon it will set you back somewhere between $199 and $249, given the improved quality of the display featured on the phone.
