Microsoft Outlook suffers major European outage — are you affected? Sep 18th 2017, 21:40, by Chris Smith Microsoft's Outlook.com email service is suffering a major outage, hitting users all over Europe Outlook and Hotmail users have taken to social media to voice their displeasure, while the service tracking website DownDetector shows widespread outages across the continent. In a tweet on Monday evening, the company tweeted: "We are aware of intermittent connectivity for some users in European countries and we're working to resolve ASAP. Thanks for your patience." In a post on its Service Health page the company went into more detail, admitting "users may be unable to access their outlook.com email accounts. Thanks for your patience. — Outlook (@Outlook) September 18, 2017 Dribbling through As of around 10:30pm UK time the company's @Outlook Twitter account was replying to tweets from annoyed users saying "our team is working to resolve this as soon as possible!" And encouraging them to check the health page for updates. Within the DownDetector comments, some users have reported emails are not starting to dribble through, but are expressing concern over the whereabouts of those sent earlier. Nicola Toms writes: "Just starting to get current emails but will backdated ones come through? I am expecting some important emails today and am not sure if response have been sent." However, it hasn't revealed what has caused the problem or offered an ETA as to when normal service will be resumed. Other online services, like OneDrive, appear to be unaffected by the outage.
