Monster Hunter World: 2018 release date announced Sep 19th 2017, 06:20, by Jordan King Capcom's hugely popular adventure series has found exclusivity on Nintendo platforms for years now, with 3DS and Wii U entries selling millions of copies in Japan alone. Now, it's aiming to make a big splash in the west with Monster Hunter World marking the series' first ever PS4 and Xbox One iterations. Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2018, it's set to be the largest entry in the franchise yet and could end up being the best. We've rounded up all the info you need on news, gameplay, trailers and more! Related: Call of Duty: WW2 preview What is Monster Hunter World?  After a number of installments on 3DS, Monster Hunter World marks the series first return to platforms away from the Nintendo family in almost a decade. Taking place in a living, breathing world absolutely packed with monsters, you and your friends will certainly have your hands full slaying beasties. Monster Hunter World release date – when is it coming out?  Monster Hunter World will launch worldwide across PS4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018, Capcom announced the Tokyo Games Show. A PC release will follow at a later date. A limited edition PS4 Pro was confirmed alongside the release date at this year's Tokyo Games Show. It looks ruddy gorgeous, featuring unique console and controller decals for hardcore Monster Hunter fans. It remains unknown whether we'll see the system launch in North America and Europe. A selection of digital content has also been revealed for pre-order customers, including classic costumes, charms and weapons to kit out your hunter upon release! Partaking on a research expedition to the 'new world,' the player is tasked with taking on quests and discovering what the new continent has in store. Monster Hunter World gameplay – how does it play? Much like previous games, Monster Hunter World will take place in a sprawling open world where players are free to meet up, explore, trade and eventually take down colossal monsters. Your hunting prowess will improve with new equipment and abilities as you progress, meaning you're always challenging bigger and better beasties. Hunting comes in many different shapes and sizes, offering multiple avenues of capturing/murdering your prey. You can pit rival creatures against each other and pick off the stragglers or even stealthily make your way in, lay a trap and wait for the chaos to unfold. And, thanks to online drop-in multiplayer, friends can help out whenever a hunt gets hairy. This should make earning experience far easier, and make the whole package far more accessible to newcomers. Base Camps also make a welcome return, allowing you to change equipment during a hunt alongside crafting and cooking resources ready for a big outing. Many additional refinements have been made to the existing formula that, as mentioned before, make Monster Hunter more approachable than ever. Loading screens are also a thing of a past, with areas now seamlessly transitioning into one another as you explore.
