The updated Parrot Bebop 2 brings the Power Sep 18th 2017, 10:56, by Richard Easton Parrot has updated the Bebop 2 with a new Power model that includes some rather tasty upgrades. Hot on the tail of its new Parrot Mambo FPV, the French drone company has now unveiled the Parrot Bebop 2 Power, which includes upgraded abilities that will entice pilots and videographers alike. First off, the Bebop 2 Power comes in a new two-tone black finish, which is sure to bring a smile to the Bruce Waynes of the world. Putting the Power in its name, flight time has been improved over the standard Bebop 2 model, with 30 minutes from a single battery. The good news is that two batteries are included in the pack, so that's approximately an hour up in the air. Improvements have been made to piloting, too, with new visual tracking modes. The Follow Me mode uses GPS and AI-powered object recognition to keep you in the shot. Similarly, taking a leaf out of the DJI Spark's piloting book, there are Magic Dronies that use the visual recognition and GPS positioning of your smartphone to shoot dramatic 'dronie' videos with pre-programmed camera movements such as 'Orbit', 'Tornado', 'Parabola' and 'Boomerang'. These modes are bolstered with Auto Shots that are designed for capturing landscape shots easily without any user input. You'll be able to toggle between 'Sport' or 'Video' flight modes, with the latter prioritising stability. The Bebop 2 Power can capture Full HD video at 30fps with 3-axis digital stabilisation. That's a step-down from mechanical stabilisation so it remains to be seen how effectively it'll be. You can also capture 14-megapixel still images in both JPEG and Adobe DNG RAW format for those wanting a bit more to work with in post. There is also a new palm take-off mode and a touch & fly piloting method that lets you use the app to direct the drone to a specific location. The Bebop 2 Power kit will also include the new Parrot Cockpitglasses 2, which uses your smartphone for a first-person experience. It has a new collapsible design, making it far easier to carry around. You'll also get a Parrot Skycontroller 2, which has a piloting range of up to 2km (depending on your local drone restrictions). The Parrot Bebop 2 Power will be available later this month in the UK and retail for a very competitive £629. That's pretty enticing considering everything you get. You'll have to stretch to £699 for the DJI Spark Fly More pack if you want a remote controller and second battery as a point of reference. What do you think of the Parrot Bebop 2 Power?
